A walk along the Thames – Monday 1 st August
We thought it might be helpful to provide some additional details about the walk planned for 1 st August. We will be leaving the Cumberland Hotel at 8.30 am and taking the Jubilee Line from Bond Street to Westminster. We will then cross the River Thames via Westminster Bridge and then walk along the South Bank to London Bridge. We will then get the Jubilee Line from London Bridge to Bond Street station. (Bond Street station is about half way between the Cumberland Hotel and the Royal College of Nursing.)
It would be useful if everyone has an Oyster card – this is the cheapest way of travelling around London on public transport. For details of how to get a pay as you go Oyster card please see: https://oyster.tfl.gov.uk/oyster/link/0005.do or you can purchase one from a ticket office at a tube station. If you have a UK credit card with touch-less technology you can use this but cards from overseas may not work and you are likely to be surcharged every time you touch in and out of the underground.
(NB Hint for travelling on London Transport – you need to touch in and out on trains and the underground but only touch in on the buses.)
Please wear comfortable shoes – trainers (sneakers) are probably best. In my experience shoes that are comfortable elsewhere can give you blisters in London! This is one of our favourite walks in London and we hope you can join us.
