Mentoring Editors Awardees for 2016

On behalf of the Suzanne Smith Mentoring Editors Awards Selection Committee, I am very pleased to announce the winners of the Suzanne Smith Mentoring Editors Awards for INANE 2016. As we did last year, we have four awardees, each of whom has been paired with a mentor. All four will be attending INANE 2016 in London this summer.

The winners are (in alphabetical order):

Judith Aponte, Editor-in-Chief of Hispanic Healthcare International and Associate Professor, Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing, New York City. Her mentor will be Carolyn Yucha, Editor-in-Chief of Biological Research for Nursing, Dean at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and host of INANE 2015.

Sarah Bird, Editor of ACORN Journal, the official journal of the Australian College of Operating Room Nurses. Sarah is also the Perioperative Quality and Education Coordinator at Hobart Private Hospital, Hobart, Tasmania. Sarah’s mentor will be Marion Broome, Editor-in-Chief of Nursing Outlook and Dean, Duke University College of Nursing.

Gary Mitchell, former Associate Editor for Evidence-Based Nursing and doctoral student at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland He is also a Resident Experience Care Specialist from Four Seasons Health Care in the UK. His mentor will be Shawn Kennedy, Editor-in-Chief, American Journal of Nursing.

DaiWai Olson, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing and Associate Professor, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas. His mentor will be Kathleen Ahern Gould, Editor-in-Chief of Dimensions of Critical Care Nursing and Adjunct Faculty, William F. Connell School of Nursing, Boston College.
